Production Supervisor

Fleming and Baron manufactures steel doors and frames for the commercial, industrial, and institutional markets and part of the ASSA ABLOY Group.

 

We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor – Day Shift, to join our team at our Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada manufacturing facility.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO AS OUR PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR?

 

As the Production Supervisor you will be responsible for the operations and production of the Door department during the Day Shift, including leading a team, ensuring the quality of product, achieving production goals, and ensuring on time delivery, labour, and safety.

 

YOU WILL ALSO:

 

  • Ensure production crew and processes adhere to Company and regulatory safety and quality policies at all times.
  • Plan and assign daily tasks to area employees to achieve the daily schedule and departmental goals, while maximizing production efficiency.
  • Ensure customer orders are filled efficiently, correctly, and on time.
  • Collaborate with all departments daily to assess needs that support current and future production.
  • Train, motivate, monitor, and evaluate performance of staff, ensuring their ability to safely perform their functions; take disciplinary actions as required.
  • Create and report prescribed metrics daily, weekly and monthly.
  • Identify and proactively raise productivity issues and trends; recommend alternatives for improved performance.
  • Actively participate in process improvement projects to achieve cost savings in labour and materials.
  • Promote positive employee and labour relations, communication and teamwork across all shifts and levels.
  • Ensure compliance with Company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, health & safety, inventory management, and Company employment policies including the Code of Conduct; ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Fill in for other managers/supervisors when required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

 

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field, e.g. Manufacturing engineering.
  • 4 - 6 years of manufacturing supervision or management experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead people; Union experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in lean manufacturing techniques and process improvement.
  • Experience with work planning and production scheduling.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of CNC equipment and programming.
  • Experience with metal forming, related fields, or door components is an asset.

  • Proven Leadership ability, excellent interpersonal skills, and the proven ability to develop relationships within the organization.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) with the ability to conduct presentations to all levels.
  • Strong documentation skills, reporting skills and computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Proven ability to give clear direction, handle difficult situations in a mature manner, and function positively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to think, troubleshoot and react quickly to changing situations and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Performs as a contributing and collaborative team member.
  • Be flexible to cover colleagues’ shifts during vacations, absences (as necessary).

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Manufacturing/industrial environment; some dust and noise.
  • Ability to stand and walk daily through manufacturing facility (155,000 sq ft)
