Human Resources Manager

Job Summary

Provides operational and strategic Human Resources guidance and support to the manufacturing operation.  Services include but are not limited to recruitment and staffing, employee relations, employee communications, compensation and benefits, performance management, and organizational and employee development.  This role will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment, supporting organizational goals, and ensuring departmental milestones and budgets are met.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • (20%) Strategic HR Partnership and Organizational Health
    • Partner effectively with business leaders to proactively influence decisions balancing business goals with employee needs
    • Maintain positive employee relations climate by effectively anticipating, coaching, counseling and resolving employee concerns, complaints and questions
    • Ensure all employee relations matters and investigations are conducted in a professional manner and that all parties involved are treated with dignity, respect and fairness.
  • (15%) Team Leadership and Development
    • Direct and guide the activities of a team of HR Representatives and/or HR Coordinators.
    • Provide timely and objective coaching to facilitate skills development and career growth of team members. 
    • Set, implement, and oversee departmental goals that ensure effective HR service deliver and align with larger business objectives.
  • (15%) Talent Acquisition Management
    • Lead recruitment, evaluation, selection, and retention for positions at all organizational levels at the site.
    • Partner with internal and external staffing resources including Employment Services department, temporary services and third party firms as needed.
    • Support succession planning and performance reviews to develop talent and build leadership pipelines.
  • (15%) HR Policy, Process, and Compliance
    • Ensure consistent application of HR policies, practices and procedures consistent with federal and state laws and regulations.
    • Lead and manage HR processes such as performance reviews, compensation programs, benefits, and merit.
  • (15%) Change Management and Culture initiatives
    • Drive engagement and cultural alignment through change initiatives and staff development
    • Foster a work environment that values feedback, accountability, and continuous improvement
    • Ensure appropriate resources are provided to staff. 
  • (10%) Data Analysis and HR Metrics
    • Analyze HR trends and metrics to develop solutions that address business challenges and drive organizational performance.
    • Report and present plant performance metrics on a monthly basis.
  • (5%) Environmental Health and Safety Partnership
    • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to assure safe and clean working environment in manufacturing setting.
  • (5%) Budget and Resource Management
    • Make recommendations for capital, operating and staffing budgets, then manage resources according to plan.
    • Provide fiscal oversight of allocated resources, assets and expenses.  Monito and adjust for financial performance and external business factors.

 

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or human resources related discipline and 5-7 years experience, or 10 years of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years generalist experience required.
  • Two or more years supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum three years HR experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of business forecasting and financial modeling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination.
  • Comprehensive understanding of P&L analysis, covering revenue, COGS, and operating margin.

 

Required Skills

  • Broad understanding and ability to interpret and apply Federal/State employment laws.
  • In-depth familiarity with contemporary best HR and management policies and practices, e.g., recruitment, selection, performance management, employee development, HRIS, and recognition and reward (e.g. compensation and incentive) systems and structures.
  • Ability to set expectations for leadership behavior and act as a cultural role model for the organization.  Skilled in providing accurate and candid feedback and effectively coaching and influencing business leaders.
  • Experience in both union and non-union manufacturing facilities desirable.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to express viewpoints clearly and persuasively, and explain objectives and expectations thoroughly, at all organization levels, one-on-one and group settings (i.e. presentations). 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and responsibilities.
  • Understanding of business financial measurements including P&L, balance sheet, inventory, productivity and Return on Net Assets.
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.  Masters Degree in business or HR related discipline preferred.

 

 

Work Environment:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office and non-climate controlled manufacturing facility
  • Must be able to travel domestically 10%
