2004-2007 |
The concept of using the iFob as a replacement for a conventional key was quickly adapted and used as a form of facility access control. This is now widely adopted as a very cost effective form of access control, and can be used to control fork lifts, server racks in data centers, banks and cash-in-transit sorting centers. |
2007 |
In early 2007 Traka moved to a new location, tripling its production capacity, and introduced new solutions in its product development to meet the increasing range of client applications. In particular, we introduced a new range of intelligent electronic lockers using RFID technology, to safe guard and manage access to assets such as laptops, tablets, smart phones, cash trays, PDAs, radios, weapons and specialized equipment. |
2008 |
Traka again wins The Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2008 – this time for International Trade. Our worldwide export trade now accounted for 50% of annual turnover. |
2009 |
2009 saw the introduction of a new standalone touchscreen interface to assist organizations in managing keys and equipment, but who didn’t need the full networked capabilities of the Traka32 software. The systems have been developed with many years of experience in the industry, and can provide full user access levels and reporting facilities within the standalone system itself. |
2010 |
By 2010, Traka systems are widely used by organizations around the world – in retail environments, industrial plants, mining, government, theme parks, universities hospitals and more. |
2011 |
First installation of Traka’s new browser-based software administration tool, Traka Web. It provides a full suite of powerful management tools, offering complete control over Traka systems from a computer, tablet or smartphone. |
2012 |
Traka is acquired by ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, in April 2012. |
2014 |
Traka acquires eTag Solutions, which provides a powerful software tool for the automotive industry. With eTag software alongside Traka key management systems, it provides the ultimate end-to-end solution for automotive dealerships. |
2015 |
The official launch of Traka21, our new entry-level key management system that requires no network installation. Traka 21 is a plug-and-play, easy to use key management system that stores up to 21 keys, and its touchscreen interface provides simple and easy administration tools.

Traka Netherlands established after acquisition of NoRisk KeyManagement B.V. in Berkel en Rodenrijs.

2018 |
With a growing presence in EMEA, Americas and Asia Pacific, Traka moves to the ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions organization. Traka Africa established after acquisition of distributor in Johannesburg.

2019 |
ASSA ABLOY acquires KEYper Systems, a leading supplier of electronic and mechanical key management systems in the US with a strong presence in the automotive segment. KEYper became a separate business unit of Traka following the acquisition. Traka Oceania established after acquisition of distributor in Sydney.
