Senior Logistics Controller

Purpose of the role:

To coordinate and ensure successful end-to-end logistics for customer orders in SA Exports, East Africa and West Africa. This role is critical in ensuring uninterrupted supply, cost efficiency, and service level excellence across the region.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Sales Operations Management:

 

  • Coordinate orderbook with the sales team and discuss issues that can prevent customer orders on time and in full fulfilment i.e. production lead time, accounts queries, etc.
  • Support the HOD in running the daily sales meeting with Exports team and logging issues to be resolved.
  • Consolidate daily sales meeting projection number for the month and engage relevant stakeholders for action to be undertaken.
  • Resolve customer queries/issues as in when they arise.
  • Quote and follow up with customers for approvals & orders confirmation.
  • Participating in NPI meeting for Export with relevant stakeholders
  • Reconcile customer accounts with Finance if there are any issues raised.
  • General office admin

 

Purchasing and Planning

 

  • Support Africa Logistics Head in facilitation and coordination of S&OP process for the region.
  • Coordinate Quarterly regional purchases orders by obtaining requirements from each Country and sharing with the Logistics Manager for review and approval.
  • Run recommend orders and share with the Logistics Manager for review and approval.
  • Place Purchase orders with suppliers.
  • Ensure supplier’s committed ready dates are in line with agreed SLA.
  • Ensure purchase orders are placed with the correct price, and any deviation is immediately communicated to the Logistics Manager
  • Obtain weekly stock positions from our Buyer’s console and follow-up on supplier’s deliveries.

 

Inbound Logistics Management:

 

  • Ensure supplier’s adherence to booking shipments on E2open Platform
  • Ensure accurate updating of all Goods in Transit
  • Daily track shipments and communicate deviations to internal stakeholders.
  • Complete Clearing instruction for forwarders priori to delivery
  • Approve draft entries for every import shipment to ensure the correct HS code and duties applied.
  • Coordinate and plan to receive with internal and external storage facilities.
  • Perform Goods receipt into the bonded facility.

 

Warehouse and Outbound Management:

 

  • Ensure external warehouse service provider receives customer orders in time for efficient picking and packing of customer orders.
  • Invoice bonded cargo in time and share CI and PL with external service provider for clearing execution.
  • Prepare documents for invoiced orders i.e. CIPL, SADC, declaration letter.
  • Coordinate the dispatch or collection of customers’ orders.
  • Follow-up on accrual completion with the bonded warehouse service provider
  • Review dispatched customer orders invoices received from the bonded warehouse service provider of all Exports customers for Logistics Manager’s approval.

 

Inventory Management:

 

  • Obtain weekly cycle counts from the bonded facility and review with LM for actioning.
  • Follow-up with the warehouse service provider for variance investigation report closure.
  • Execute system inter warehouse cargo movement between bonded facility and free stores.
  • Achieve acceptable divisions inventory health by continuously reducing SLOBs and Excess inventory.

 

People Leaderships & Capability Building:

 

  • Build, develop and lead internal exports sales team.
  • Coach and guide SSA Logistics team members.
  • Align Logistics service providers to Assa Abloy’s Supply Chain strategies.

 

Professional Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain and related
  • Honors will be advantageous

 

Professional Experience

 

  • Minimum 3-5 Years experience in Logistics, Customer Services or Supply Chain related function
  • Proven track record of driving service levels
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and strategies to variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of lean principles in customer service and Logistics pillar
