AP Analyst

Reporting to Accounts Payable Manager, your Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:
- Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices for multiple business units.
- Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
- Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
- Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal id numbers, scheduling and preparing checks, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.
- Obtain W-9 form from vendors.
- Compile 1099s accurately and timely.
- Reimburses employees by receiving and verifying expense reports.
- Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
- Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
- Maintains historical records.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Reconcile accounts payable general ledger to sub-ledger.
- Creates journal entries as needed, including correcting entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepares and processes month-end accruals to ensure expenses are recorded in the correct accounting period.
- Performs business and department-level allocations to appropriately distribute shared costs.
- Assists with month-end close activities and reporting.
- All other tasks as directed by Management
Skills Requirements and Performance Criteria:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience.
- A clear understanding of accounting principles to include accounts payable, general ledger, accruals and prepaids, credits and debits, 3-way matching, and payment terms.
- A strong analytical aptitude with good to excellent math skills
- History of process improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
- Full understanding of the order-to-pay process.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a positive approach toward others.
- Strong aptitude and working knowledge of ERP systems.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
