Sr. Maintenance Technician

Position Description

The Sr. Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment.  Must be able to develop safety, predictive, and preventive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. The Sr. Maintenance Technician must be well-organized and able to develop and maintain a PM (preventive maintenance) program for machines and facilities. Strategic abilities and effectiveness/efficiency is paramount as failures can seriously affect the operations of the business.  In addition, the Sr. Maintenance Technician will collaborate with the production team and upper managements to support the factory operations and goals.

Major Areas of Responsibility

 Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining facility and manufacturing machinery – preventative maintenance, trouble shooting on industrial machinery such as CNC Milling Machines, Drills, Grinders, Punches, etc.
  • Manage vendor communication and relationships for facilities, manufacturing machinery, including forklift equipment, and PPE.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of parts, materials, PPE, to cover on-going plant safety and maintenance.
  • Maintain records of inspections of mandatory city and county agencies such as fire, wastewater, electrical, etc. 
  • Negotiate with various contractor vendors for repairs, additions, expansions, upgrades, and changes to the facility.  Follow the company’s policy on proper vendor quoting and coordinate the commencement of work or repair needed. Oversee such project work to ensure that the vendor provides the work as quoted and required.
  • Responsible for repairs to production equipment to ensure efficient and accurate performance.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and operation of all moving equipment such as forklifts and power lifts.
  • Train equipment operators on the proper use, care, and maintenance of such equipment.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

      This position requires the following essential knowledge, skills, and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill the Sr. Maintenance Technician role:

  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, mechanical, and industrial skills with PLC & CNC experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in managing vendor relationship for parts, materials, and services to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing and production processes.
  • Experience must include PM (preventative maintenance) scheduling and troubleshooting on all industrial machinery as well as facilities maintenance.
  • Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Good analytical/critical thinking.
  • Able to maintain strict confidence in financial sensitive information and demonstrate a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment and interact effectively with other groups and departments, clients, and partners.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and be open to feedback to improve individual performance.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers; problem resolution skills; understanding competitive market; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume environment.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.  The ability to hear and speak clearly is essential.  The employee will be required to work in seated, standing, and lay down positions. Must be able to use hands and fingers, to handle or feel.  The employee is often required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
