Your Role in Keeping the Future in Safe Hands…

 

As the Junior Electronics Engineer for the Global solutions division of ASSA ABLOY, you will have the opportunity to significantly impact the evolution of our next generation products, services, and processes and work with a wide range of technologies to drive innovation. You will get to work on a team that keeps growing, innovating, and giving you room to be proactive, creative, and develop unique perspectives on how various services interact with each other.

 

Reporting to the Electromechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for working to support the electronics needs for the wider team and business.  

  

What you will do…

 

  • Fault-finding to root cause/component level faulty electronic products and perform corrective actions.
  • Develop, perform, and report on tests and investigations covering:
    • Debug and troubleshoot firmware issues and provide effective solutions.
    • Electrical/Electronic Testing (including environmental and EMC testing)
    • Escalated Tech Support cases and investigations
  • Design, develop, and maintain test fixtures for use within Production and at Sub-Contract manufacturers.
  • Respond to Electronics-related Engineering Change Requests from Production.
  • Build, rework, and repair Printed Circuit Assemblies, including surface-mounted components.
  • Provide support interface between R&D and the rest of the business to assist with Electronic/Electrical/Firmware-related issues.
  • Collaborate with Test and Manufacturing teams to ensure testability and manufacturability.
  • Prepare manufacturing documentation and final qualification of the manufacturing process and tools.
  • Work closely with a diverse engineering team (hardware, firmware/software, mechanical, manufacturing, and QA) to drive new product innovation.
  • Analysis and evaluation of electrical components for usability and to confirm performance under real-world conditions
  • Follow Pilot Production builds and review first articles for design integrity.
  • Contribute to project documentation, risk assessments, and change management processes.
  • Design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems.
  • Write and test embedded software in C & C++, ensuring it is well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable.
  • Assist with the development of new hardware products, including electrical, PCB design, and aspects of RF design.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory standards (FCC, CE, etc.) and maintain compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Help maintain Knowledge Base and Troubleshooting Guides

What we expect of you…

  • 1-3+ years of experience in Electronics Engineering or similar fields
  • BS or BST in Electrical, Electronic Engineering
  • Use diagnostic and debugging tools (Multimeter, oscilloscopes, microscope)
  • Ability to read and interpret Schematic Diagrams and PCB layouts.
  • Hands-on engineering skills (soldering, wiring, mechanical)
  • Willingness to learn new skills and continually develop engineering knowledge
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent documentation and recording skills.
  • Inquisitive mind and keen eye for detail
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Point etc.)
  • Advanced mechanical, electronics, and computer knowledge
  • Advanced-level circuit diagnostics and design
  • Ability to understand and write firmware and software
  • Experience with microcontrollers
  • Understanding of communication protocols (Serial, I2C, RS-485, 1-Wire, etc.)
  • Circuit design from initial idea to manufacturing
  • Electrical test development
  • Design schematics and Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) using ECAD tools (e.g., Altium)
  • Experience with EMC testing and requirements.
