What you would do as our Firmware Test Automation Engineer
As a Firmware Test Automation Engineer in the ASSA ABLOY Americas Technology Solutions Team, you will work on our latest modular IoT platform, which is the essential building block for many IoT products developed within ASSA ABLOY Group. Our focus is on creating a firmware platform based on Zephyr RTOS integrated with Mobile SDKs. You will be part of an agile cross-functional team, focusing on Quality Assurance and Continuous Integration.
You would also:
- Set up and maintain test frameworks and underlying infrastructure (both on hardware and virtualized layers), mostly working with technologies like Python, Robot Framework, Docker, and Gitlab CI.
- Extend test coverage with focus on long-term and performance testing.
- Resolve test framework and infrastructure issues, impeding the development.
- Work with bugs closely with firmware developers: reporting, investigating and fixing.
- Perform exploratory testing.
As a SAFe Scrum Team Member, you will participate in standard Scrum activities like quarterly PI plannings, daily stand-ups, grooming, retrospective & demo meetings. You will also regularly be in touch with the stakeholders, discussing technical aspects & requirements.
The skills and experience you need
We are looking for someone who:
- Is experienced in building and maintaining test automation and test infrastructure for embedded systems.
- Is proficient in Python applied in test frameworks such as PyTest or Robot Framework.
- Has previous experience with Continuous Integration environments: GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar tools.
- Has experience in creating virtualized test environments using Docker and Linux.
- Has experience in testing electronic devices, including aspects related to power consumption and communication interfaces.
- Is experienced in testing constrained IoT devices.
- Has ability to operate measurement equipment and integrate it into automated test environments.
- Since English is our corporate language, we expect you to have a high professional knowledge and be able to speak, read, and write freely when interacting with your international colleagues.
- As we are an R&D unit, you should be open to rapid technology changes and ready to learn them.
- Is available to work onsite in our RnD Innovation Hub, based in Zabierzow, at least 2 days per week.
It would be beneficial, but not mandatory, to have cryptography knowledge, including secure IoT communication and Public Key Infrastructure concept as well as some experience with access control systems.
