Your Role in Keeping the Future in Safe Hands…
As the Financial Controller for the Global Solutions division of ASSA ABLOY, you will have the opportunity to become a valuable member of our Accounting Operations team, making a genuine, positive impact in the lives of our customers.
Reporting to the President of Traka Americas, you oversee various key functions, including overall Financial Operations, the Order to Cash cycle, Inventory, Accounting Activities, Upstream forecasting/reporting and Collaborative planning. Working closely with the finance team and the management team, the Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring adherence to company financial standards, policies, and procedures, while preparing accurate financial reports for submission to the UK for inclusion in ASSA ABLOY's financial reports.
What you will do…
- Manage daily accounting functions for national operation with recent expansion into Canada and LATAM. Direct and supervise internal accountants which performs daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks.
- Participate in the generation of timely and accurate monthly financial and management reporting.
- Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
- Ensure that accounting, control, audit and administrative duties are performed effectively and efficiently.
- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for the US, Canada, and Latin America regions.
- Collaborate with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Utilize the ERP system to streamline financial processes, reporting, and data analysis.
- Train and guide finance team members in effectively utilizing ERP system for financial reporting and analysis, as well as monthly reporting into HFM.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, variance analysis, and performance assessments to identify areas for improvement.
- Create comprehensive financial reports and presentations for the executive leadership team as needed.
- Ensure all internal and Group deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner.
- Fully support Central Finance and/or Group Finance with any additional analysis required.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
- Work with and develop shared services relationships to support Canadian, US and LATAM business as needed.
- Monitor and manage financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate potential issues.
- Manage financial operations in US, Canada and Latin America, ensuring compliance with local financial regulations and tax laws utilizing group wide financial support structure.
- Consolidate financial data from various regions for accurate and comprehensive reporting.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital to optimize liquidity and support ongoing operations and investments.
- Implement effective cash management strategies to minimize financial risks.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Develop talent within the finance department and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and supply chain, to support business initiatives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
Essential Functions:
- Payroll Administration: Manage payroll administration, including accurate calculation of commission payments.
- Financial Records Maintenance: Oversee day-to-day finance duties to maintain accurate accounting records, including Cash Book, Bank Reconciliations, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Nominal Ledger, and Stock Records.
- Tax and Accounting Relationships: Manage 3rd party tax and accounting relationships locally or within the ASSA ABLOY Group globally.
- Monthly Accounts and Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly P&L, accounts, and other financial reports in a suitable format for submission to the UK within specified timelines.
- Payroll Processing: Prepare and submit payroll twice a month, including calculating monthly sales commissions and reimbursable expenses to the payroll company.
- Expense Management: Manage the processing and approvals of expense reports and credit card expenditures for all staff.
- Payment Management: Ensure all vendor payments are made in accordance with payment obligations.
- Purchase Orders and Invoicing: Ensure prompt processing and accounting of customer purchase orders, invoicing, and payment receipts.
- Debt Collection: Lead efforts to maintain the agreed debt collection cycle to promptly collect outstanding debts.
- Stock Record Management: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to maintain accurate stock records for Traka Americas in terms of quantities and valuation.
- Financial Variance, Forecast, and Budget Reports: Prepare and present regular financial variance, forecast, and budget reports.
- Manage price books, work with VP of Sales to ensure accurate reflection in CRM and appropriate price increases as needed.
What we expect of you…
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, required.
- 8+ years progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
- Strong accounting background required including robust knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, IFRS standards, management reporting and financial KPI monitoring.
- Strong expertise in financial management, including experience in QuickBooks and/or SAP is required.
- Thorough knowledge of US GAAP and some knowledge in international accounting standards.
- Excellent financial analysis and strategic planning skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and continuous improvement process skills.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel.
- Experience in using and maintaining accounting package.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers and co-workers.
- Ability to work individually, unsupervised and as part of a fast-moving organization and team.
- Capability to prioritize multiple tasks and critically think through complex situations as part of an international team.
- Ability to follow operational procedures and work to strict project deadlines.
Desirable skills:
- Demonstrated experience in managing financial operations in an international setting, including Canada and Latin America.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing HFM and/or OneStream.
- Ability to communicate with and work with operations team as needed in the warehouse for the purpose of reconciliation and order validation. i.e. inventory, order processing, etc.
