John Bint

Senior Product Manager

"The opportunity to play a key role in deciding what the company can sell, and ensuring the sales team and channel partners have all the information they need to configure and sell systems is tremendous."

If you want to know about Traka locker solutions, John is the man to speak too. As a Senior Product Manager, John is responsible for working with our Sales teams to ensure our customers get the right solution for their asset management needs. John joined Traka in 2014 after taking some advice from a very reliable source…

The Mayor of Milton Keynes was hugely enthusiastic about Traka’s people and products, after she visited the company in connection with the Queen Award for Innovation in 2012. It occurred to me then that this would be an interesting firm to work for. The opportunity presented itself a couple of years later, when Traka decided to hire its first Product Manager. During the interview process it become clear to both sides that there was a great overlap between what both sides could offer and what we were each looking for.

Working with great colleagues and tackling “nice problems to have” are very important to John and his role, along with thinking of new and innovative ways that our solutions can be used. The ever-expanding workforce at Traka allows John to work with new colleagues from all over the world…

As a local councillor, John has many things going on outside of his time with Traka, so it is very important to him to have a balanced work and social life…

The company is based just a few miles from my home, thus avoiding the 1-2 hour commutes that ruins the work-life balance of many people. Moreover, Traka is very supportive of employees having family/domestic commitments and/or being involved in the life of their community, provided these factors are managed without an impact on the company’s work.

So what is that inspires John to go above and beyond working for Traka…

Colleagues at all levels (up to & including the Technical Director & Managing Director) are unfailingly courteous, even when making requests for a piece of work that is technically difficult and needs doing to a tight timescale. When it is done, they are appreciative of the effort and the results. In addition, if the deadline means I have to get into the office an hour earlier than I had intended, the appreciation makes it worthwhile.

Traka as a business is changing all the time, and with that comes new challenges and opportunities for our staff to accomplish something meaningful. John recently felt that accomplishment whilst updating flowcharts for critical business processes that affect the service we provide to our customers

Traka is not just an office, it is a culture, and John likes the culture of celebrating success, in every department…

After portions of my career in companies that work very differently, it still feels odd that “it’s easier to get forgiveness than permission”, but what is nice is everyone knows that this is part of the company’s culture, and everyone behaves accordingly. I like the high standards of technical product safety and certification, and the related high standards of safety training and awareness across the company. I like the fact that Traka is producing the best products technically in our field, and unashamedly expecting to be paid premium prices for these premium products.

When asked if he would recommend Traka as an employer to others, the answer was very short and sweet….
