Traka plc, has won The Queen's Award for Enterprise International Trade 2008, in recognition of its commercial success and substantial growth in overseas earnings.
Today, 50 per cent of Traka's annual turnover comes from overseas, the company selling its intelligent access management systems to over 22 countries worldwide, to customers as diverse as the Vatican, casinos across the world, parliamentary buildings and international telecoms operators.
The company's clever, key-based systems are relevant to a huge range of organisations, enabling them to control, monitor and record access to their property, facilities, vehicles and equipment.
The ability to manage and protect their resources more effectively reduces operating costs, improves safety and often results in significant improvements in productivity many customers enjoying a return on their investment in a matter of months.
The Awards are made each year by The Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an advisory committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.
The idea was founded by John Kent in 1990 when British Airways asked him to develop a system to safeguard its airside ground support vehicles.
Since then, Traka has become a world leader in intelligent access management solutions. Its UK customers include police forces, museums, prisons, hospitals, hotels and numerous commercial organisations. Its unique fork truck management system is used by over 9,000 fork trucks in the UK alone. |
