  • Enforce O,H&S compliance by controlling who can gain access to site, equipment, machinery and store areas

Who uses Traka's Single Key Box?

The Single Key Box is used by many organisations, for example, Water Utility companies wanting to provide key access to remote sites such as water towers and reservoirs, by Mobile Telephone companies providing remote key access to telephone masts and transport organisations wishing to provide a remote key facility on a perimeter gate to access a vehicle yard.

How is the system used?

An operative needing to gain access to a secure area or remote site must first acquire a 'one-time' PIN code from an administrator. This can be issued to staff as part of the 'start of day' procedures but, more likely, will be issued when the operative phones-in to base having arrived at site. The operative enters the one-time PIN code on the key pad, and if correct, the steel door will open and allow release of the key attached to a Traka iFob. The system records the date and time of key release and this is audited against the operatives name. Upon completion of work, the operative returns the key in a similar manner and once more the system time-stamps the key transaction.

Having returned the key, that operative, or another staff member, can't use the same PIN code - he or she must phone to base to be issued with another one-time PIN code from the administrator to access the key.

Why is the Single Key Box so useful?

The primary reason that the system proves so useful is because it saves an organisation having multiple sets of keys for each remote site - these are hard to account for, especially as they can easily be lost or copied. Staff moving from site to site don't have to carry several key sets with them and, if you want to allow a contractor access to a remote site, this can be achieved very easily without someone having to meet them just to issue a temporary key.
