Lockers

Intelligent asset management

Ideal for controlling access to portable computing and communications equipment such as data terminals, laptops, attack alarms and airwave radios, as well as for medical use, and industrial tools and devices such as gas analysers, detectors and specialist monitoring equipment.

In environments where shared portable devices are not always treated with respect - and are prone to being lost, damaged, mislaid or stolen - the ability to control who has access to the equipment, and the ability to identify who last used a specific piece of equipment, and when, can be an essential management tool.

Management control - on and off-line

In common with our key management systems, Traka32 software is used to control locker access via PIN, magnetic card or biometric reader.  Enabling valuable management information to be compiled, the system automatically records when a locker is opened and by whom - and with RFID sensors, when the contents are actually removed and returned. Traka can even ensure that the piece of equipment is returned to the correct locker after use.

Traka software can continuously poll each locker, checking on the contents, or you can specify that the system polls at selected intervals.  All relevant user transactions are managed through the locker control board, so even if the network goes down, or your PC crashes, no information will be lost - the system will simply update when back on-line.

Modular by design...

Chances are that the equipment you want to manage is specific in shape and size - and perhaps you require the device to be re-charged whilst in the locker (ready for the next user) - all of these factors can determine the size of the locker compartments.  Traka lockers are modular by nature and are often designed and built to satisfy specific customer applications - those shown are examples of systems recently built. We are always ready to discuss requirements and help you design a locker system that best meets your needs.

There's 'no question' about it...

With Traka there is no question about who last used a piece of equipment or accessed a drugs dispensing cabinet - the information is all in the database.  So if a user discovers that an asset is already damaged, faulty or missing, there is a much greater emphasis on the user to report this to management - otherwise, in turn, they will be attributed as the culprit. It all brings about a greater sense of user accountability and responsibility.

As used by...

Because of the advanced management control features, and the flexibility offered by our modular design, Traka's intelligent lockers are now widely used in a broad spectrum of organisations, including...

  • Airports
  • Hospitals
  • Colleges
  • Retail stores
  • Distribution & logistics centres,
  • Police and Local Authorities
  • Central Government

RFID lockers

Traka RFID lockers are used in situations where controlling who has access to the asset is itself not enough. In such circumstances it is often necessary to know exactly when the asset was taken, when it was returned, and to ensure that it was returned to the correct location.

As each asset is effectively tagged, and can be identified as 'in or out' of the system, and used by whom. A full audit of equipment usage is maintained, which when combined with features such as setting:

  • due back time (curfew)
  • recalibration intervals
  • licence expiry
  • fault logging
  • advanced booking

provides a very effective way to control the access to and the traceability of equipment usage. At the same time Traka introduces significantly higher levels of user accountability and hence responsibility, resulting in less damage, fewer losses and reduced operating costs for your business.

Advanced control

Intelligent locker systems can be automated to provide advanced levels of control. Supposing a radio handset or similar device has been used on shift and just returned - it would be unwise to issue this immediately again as the battery would not have had sufficient time to recharge.  If required, our systems can be configured to issue access on a strict rotational basis or lock-in devices for selected periods of time.
